Imagine sitting down to a freshly sliced piece of cake, still warm from the heat of the oven. One bite into the decadently moist loaf and the world seems to pause for that one small, perfect moment. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

But with all that sweetness comes an instant need to wash down the crumbly texture with a nice, tall glass of…soda?! Wait a second, that’s not right! I don’t know about you, but for me, soda is just about the last thing I want to consume while indulging in the sugary treat.

So, you can imagine my hesitation when Todd’s Kitchen suggested combing the two! But if this culinary YouTube sensation swears by it, I’d say it’s worth a shot.

He insists that you can make a sinfully delicious cake with only two ingredients – boxed cake mix and soda! What makes this recipe even better (if the 2-ingredient-requirement wasn’t good enough already), you can cater the concoction to your own particular preference.

In the video he uses chocolate mix and raspberry-flavored soda, but this is purely a suggestion. My brain is already rattling off a bunch of pairings I can’t wait to try – vanilla mix with orange soda, lemon mix with Sprite, German chocolate mix with cream soda – the options are endless!
