We can finally kiss winter goodbye and welcome the warm weather of springtime! You’re probably familiar with the spring cleaning trends that come our way. But this year, we’re going to spring clean a little differently!

The spring season is the perfect time for you to reshape your New Year’s resolutions, which somehow got pushed aside, and focus on becoming a better, healthier YOU!

I know what you’re thinking, “I already know all of this!” But sometimes you simply need a friendly reminder that your routine could use some sprucing up.

You can add more greens to your diet, revamp your daily workout or organize your way to a cleaner lifestyle!

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get this healthy routine started!


1. Eat more COLORS!

Just like your momma told you years ago, you need to eat your vegetables. These veggies are full of colorful nutrients that will give your body the fuel it needs. Not only do vegetables add the vitamins, minerals and fiber that your body craves, but they also help fight off chronic diseases. Nice try, high blood pressure!

If you’re not a fan of greens, there are plenty of fruits that will give you the same health benefits. Add your favorite sliced fruits to your meals or munch on them for a quick snack!

2. Reorganize your pantry!

Preparation and organization are half the battle when it comes to cleaning up your diet. If you have an organized pantry and refrigerator, it’s much easier to make healthy choices. Declutter your pantry and throw out those items you never use! Keep your go-to options stocked and in an efficient order for your kitchen. Grocery shopping will become a breeze!

3. Get some Vitamin D!

Good morning, sunshine! More sunshine means more happiness and there’s science to prove it! Vitamin D (thanks to the sun’s rays) increases your immune system function to fight off colds, promotes bone health and fights off depression. If you can’t get outside for some sun, there are plenty of ways to get more Vitamin D. Add fish, mushrooms, egg yolks, fortified cereals or supplements to get your daily dose!


More sunshine means looking FLAWLESS like Meryl Streep. Sign me up!

4. Drink more water!

What if I told you the secret to glowing skin, no joint pain or less headaches? It’s in your kitchen and you already drink it every day. The problem? You aren’t drinking enough! Science says you’re supposed to drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water. (Uh for me, that’s a WHOLE lot of water!) Increasing your intake will help flush out your body of harmful toxins.


Not now, Betty! This is NOT a job for vodka!

5. Get movin’ and revamp your fitness routine!

With all the fitness fads out there, it’s hard to keep up! Zumba? Aerobics? Spin classes? It makes my HEAD spin just thinking about it! But all you need is 30 minutes of movement a day, like a nice stroll with your hubby or girlfriends. Once you get your blood flowing, your muscles will warm up and each step will feel a little lighter. This exercise will release feel-good endorphins into your body. More endorphins equal more happiness…I’m starting to see a trend here!


Work that fitness routine! A little sweat never hurt anyone!

6. Clean out your medicine cabinet!

How often do you head to your medicine cabinet for a pain reliever or sleeping aid? But more importantly, how often do you check the dates on those bottles? Keeping expired medicine “just in case” can put anyone in your home at risk. Specialists say medicines that have an expiration date over a year old must be thrown away. As always, make sure to check with your pharmacist or doctor just to be safe!

7. Check in with your doc!

Speaking of your doctor, have you had a chat about your health recently? A yearly physical is always recommended, even if you’re healthy. Proper diet and exercise play a huge part in your wellness, but genetics have a funny way of overruling all of your healthy efforts. Call your doc up and make an appointment!
