Here is another delightful video that will surely put a smile on your face.
While on his deep-sea diving adventure, a man is accompanied by an inquiring and inspecting sea lion who wants to be his new friend, or so it seems. The sea lion plays with the diver, curiously poking at the different parts of his body while delivering harmless bites.
The video was recorded off the coast of La Paz, Mexico, at the Los Islotes dive site. This diving site is situated half a mile north of Isla Espiritu Santo, home to a colony of some 200 California sea lions. It is no secret that these amusing and entertaining creatures take an interest to those visiting their homes. They are highly social, intelligent and extremely friendly. Can you tell?
The sea lion circles the diver nibbling on his hands, and legs. He even examines the gas tank, goggles, and nibbles on his hands some more. The intrigued diver senses no fear and allows the sea lion to explore and circle him several times. The diver seems to be enjoying the interaction. We can even see him scratching the belly of the sea lion as if it were a dog. What a fun interaction!
The underwater circumnavigation of these islands has to be exciting and visually enthralling. The added benefit of playtime with one of these creatures would make such a visit worthwhile.
Would you go diving at this social dive site to interact with one of these friendly sea creatures? I know I would!
