Parents of brand new babies and dogs in the home know, it’s paramount to make sure the home environment is safe and comfortable for everyone. This is especially true when the dog happens to be a  humungous German Shepherd. German Shepherds may be large breeds, but they are very intelligent and quite protective.

When Courtney Colvin of Jacksonville, Florida, heard her son giggling with joy, she had to go see what was all the giggling about. Immediately, she knew it was a moment worth capturing.

In the short video, we see Freyja, the 2-year-old German Shepherd, with a grip on one of Jackson’s toys, much to the delight of the 5-month-old. The baby boy heartily giggles while the dog wiggles his head with the toy. How contagious is that laugh?

While it’s common for pet owners to post videos like these, this one seems exceptionally genuine. It also demonstrates a perfectly secure relationship between dog and baby.

It’s clear that these two are well on their way to becoming best friends. Just listen to that laughter!
