An adorable little girl named Ari visited The Special Olympics in Los Angeles, California this past weekend and left with an amazing gift — a new hand!

Little Ari, accompanied by her mother, stopped by the Google Impact Challenge: Disabilities booth to check out the latest and greatest gadgets offered by the tech company. One such invention was a prosthetic hand that fits on one’s arm like a glove and allows for actual movement. Ari was immediately drawn to the device and a Google employee helped her try on the prototype. After seeing how cool the prosthetic was and how it allowed her to use it as an actual extension of herself, Ari was completely enamored.

The Google employee kindly whispered to her mother to please leave Ari’s measurements with them and that the team would be sure to make her a prosthetic hand. The team worked tirelessly throughout the night to create a new hand for Ari, using a 3D printer.

I just loved seeing Ari’s excited face when she sees her brand new, pink hand (in her favorite color, no less!) and am in such awe of what technology can now do. Props to those Google employees for changing Ari’s — and many others’ — lives for the better!
