Within the first couple of seconds, you will be overwhelmed with heavy tears. Sitting on his hospital bed, Jeremiah Succar’s wish came true. He was visited bysinger/songwriter Rachel Platten, and the two sang the most incredible duet of Fight Song.
In his hospital room in Los Angeles, Succar has been battling stage four Atypical Rhabdoid Teratoid since May. He may have a tube in his nose and down his throat, but the brave 7-year-old shows his extraordinary strength as he lives out a dream. He would sing the song at every IV change, and every procedure.
Platten is surprised that the little fighter knew all of the lyrics to her hit single by heart. She learned about Jeremiah through a hastag #RachelMeetJeremiah on Instagram campaign where a massive attempt was initiated to reach the singer. Platten got wind of the cause and visited her biggest fan.
The touching footage was released at the beginning of September to kick off the month of raising awareness about childhood cancers, including Jeremiah’s particular diagnosis. Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor is a very rare, fast-growing tumor of the brain and spinal cord.
At the end of the clip, Jeremiah had one question for the singer. He sweetly asked Platten for her autograph.
It took me a long time to watch this entire video. The tears are still flowing…
