This 3-Year-Old Can’t Blow Out His Birthday Candles. Dad’s Solution? GENIUS!

As it turns out, putting candles on birthday cakes is a tradition that has been around for a long, long time; even going back to Ancient Greeks. In addition to the food and drinks, we still eagerly gather around the birthday cake to watch the person of honor make his or her wish.

Many people believe that the birthday boy or girl must make a silent wish before blowing out the candles. If all the candles are blown out in one breath, the wish will come true, and the person will have good luck throughout the year. But in most cases, it takes more than one breath to blow out all the candles– just ask Marty.

The hilarity captured in this home video shows a small dilemma for the 3-year-old. It’s Marty birthday, and mom and dad want him to blow out the one candle on his beautifully decorated cupcake. Marty is ready the blow, but it is just not happening. He needs more than one breath.

I feel badly for laughing at the adorable little fellow, but he just can’t seem to blow out the candle.

Finally, Dad runs off camera to get a straw to help Marty finally extinguish the flame. Dad positions the straw in Marty’s mouth directly facing the fire. This time, all it takes is one blow. Brilliant? I think so too.

Marty, I always needed help blowing out candles, so don’t worry about it. Time to eat that cupcake!
