Make Stunning Planters For Your Garden With Nail Polish!

Angela Markus

Planting isn’t just a spring activity. Spring may be special, but fall is fine for planting. Turfgrass, spring-blooming bulbs, cool-season vegetables, perennials, trees, and shrubs can all be effectively planted in the fall.

Fall has distinct planting benefits. Autumn’s obviously has cooler air temperatures  and is easier on both plants and gardeners. Don’t you agree? The soil is still warm, allowing roots to grow until the ground freezes. In spring, plants don’t grow until the soil warms up, so says Better Homes.

If you are looking for a cool DIY project, HelloNatural.co has got you covered. Just grab planters (this project uses old terra cotta, but all surfaces should work fine) nail polish, and a big bucket of water.

First, fill the bucket with water to the halfway mark and let it come to room temperature. It is suggested that this project is best done outdoors for good ventilation.

Next, pour in nail polish liberally. Let it spread out over the water as much as possible. You can assist the spreading by using a toothpick or even just shaking the bucket a little. The more surface area of the water you cover the greater coverage on the pot.

Then, dip your planters into the water. For the most beautiful designs, dip the pot on its side and let the polish wrap around the sides. If you don’t cover the entire pot in one dip, then dip again if you like.
