When these four young ladies stepped out on Britain’s Got Talent stage holding hands, the judges were both astonished and excited. But they had no idea what they were in for. Dance troupe The Cocooners is made up of Michelle, 63, Heather, 75, Lynne, 80 and 75-year-old Maxine. The women are tap dancers and were ready for their audition on the talent show.
Their lovely routine turned out to be a pleasant surprise for both the judges and the audience. The ladies came out in clothes that were expectant of grandmothers. Unassuming cardigans, blouses and skirts. But that would be short-lived. A few seconds into the audition, the ladies stripped down to spangled jumpsuits and began their set.
Each golden age girl got up on their own square podium, and then the music began. The cocooners demanded cheers along with every tap. Their performance warranted a standing ovation at the end. These energetic women can sure teach everyone a thing or two about keeping active and having fun in life, no matter what age you are.
I think these women careers are just starting. Simon later called them ‘little minxes’ while David added, “I loved the stripping off.”
The cocooners proved that age is just a number.
