When it comes to desserts, I’m a toppings person. Put me in front of a sundaes bar, and I will go to town! A sprinkle of this, a dash of that, a drizzle of this…another drizzle of this!
I like to have multiple toppings on hand in the house, in case I need to whip up a quick treat for the kids when they have friends over (or whenever I’m craving something sweet for myself)! However, one of my favorite toppings – dulce de leche – can sometimes be hard to find in stores.
Dulce de leche is popular in Latin American countries and is pretty darn similar to America’s version of caramel, but just a smidgen better in my opinion 😉 With it’s ooey gooey consistency and it’s sweet buttery taste, dulce de leche is the perfect topping to any scoop of ice cream…or any dessert for that matter!
Instead of resorting to pre-made caramel (or making my own which can be SUPER complicated), I’ve discovered this easy tutorial on how to make dulce de leche by placing one simple ingredient in a pot of water!
Check it out and try it for yourself! I guarantee once you do, you’ll never go back to normal caramel again! Don’t forget to SHARE!
