It is enough to make anyone squinge—yellow armpit stains. Many of us have suffered the shame and embarrassment of wearing a shirt with dingy yellow stains radiating from the armpits. It is one of those fashion mishaps that cause everyone to stare. But it doesn’t have to be that way. If you want to experience the joy and exhilaration of giving a confident, unabashed high-five, this DIY is for you.
To be fair, it should be noted that contrary to popular belief, your sweat is not the cause of yellow stains. Most experts agree that that culprit behind your yellow pits is the aluminum used in antiperspirants combined with sweat.
YouTuber Jilee of the One Good Thing channel recommends getting hydrogen peroxide, Dawn dishwashing liquid, and baking soda. She pours a couple of tablespoons of the hydrogen peroxide directly on the stain followed by the dishwashing liquid and baking soda.
Next, she takes an old toothbrush and gives the stain, a good scrub. She lets the t-shirt sit for an hour and mentions that letting it sit overnight will not hurt. The last step involves washing the t-shirt after which you will see some amazing results.
This mixture will work well with all colors and types of stains. Much needed in my home.
