During the opening ceremony of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games in 2014, spectators were treated to an awe-inspiring performance of 500 people dancing in the sky.
The 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held in Nanjing city in the Jiangsu province in China. The event lasted for 12 days, with a total of 3600 athletes from 201 nations participating. China is now famous for its spectacular opening and closing ceremonies at various sporting events, and this one was no exception.
It opens with hundreds of dancers and acrobats in the center of the stadium. A group of acrobats run to the middle and climb invisible wires before being lifted into the air. They perform some incredible aerial stunts while suspended above the stage that literally took my breath away. At 1:46 they resemble a human Christmas tree with all the colors and the shape!
The spectacle doesn’t end there. The dancers on the ground are no less beautiful and along with the lighting and visual effects the stage is transformed into a kaleidoscope of dancers. The acrobats form a sort of Christmas tree in the beginning and then proceed to create incredible formations! Making this possible really needs talent as well as some nerves of steel! It’s simply stunning to watch!
