When some middle schoolers were called in for an assembly, they had no idea what was in store for them. A guest speaker had a vital message that left most of the room in tears. Former WCW and WWE champion, Marc Mero, got up on stage and delivered a very pertinent speech. I would be telling a tale if I said I was not an emotional wreck myself.
Mero talks about his past with his mother and what he wishes he would’ve done differently in years past. A promoter of positive change, he lectures the young men and women on the power of love and not taking the most important people in our lives for granted.
The former wrestler admits that growing up, he didn’t surround himself with the best of people. “You show me your friends, I will show your future.” This led to him experiencing a lot of tragedies later on in life when many people he knew died due to their dangerous lifestyles. Knowing that he couldn’t go on enduring the loss of loved ones without doing anything, Mero took action and became a public speaker.
Now, he primarily speaks in front of young people in hopes that he can inspire positive change and influence better decision-making at an earlier stage in their lives. It’s obvious from watching this clip that Mero’s words were hitting home for more than one student in the room.
Powerful is an understatement!
