There are proposals, and then there is the ‘Love Actually’ proposal. While many think that is an impossible feat to mimic, William G.J Gerard did it most romantically. Watch as he proposes to his fiancée in an epic display of love.
This romantic pulled off what may well be the grandest proposal of all time after he enlisted the help of a brass band and recreated an iconic scene from the film Love Actually. After spending nine months planning the event, he managed to trick his girlfriend into believing she would be collecting a check for a charitable cause.
Gerard managed to disappear from his girl friend long enough to change into his suit before meeting back up with his soon-to-be-fiancée. Meanwhile Jena, who was greeted by a solo trumpeter, was led around the building to the sound of cheering and music. Looking entirely overwhelmed and a little emotional, Jena then follows the band to an open section of the building where they begin playing.
When Gerard reemerges, he starts removing cards from an easel that tell a story. The gesture is very similar to one featured in classic romance, starring Keira Knightley and Andrew Lincoln’s characters. William’s place cards similarly read that Jena is the perfect woman for William (his purpose on earth) but it appears that this Lothario has a little more luck on his side than Mark.
After revealing the last card, he drops to one knee and pops the question to his delighted girlfriend. She responds ‘yes’ and then he lifts her into the air in celebration as the crowd of thrilled onlookers applaud.
Who can top that? I can only imagine what the wedding will be like.
