Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, and Adam Lambert are just some of the few successful stars who got their starts on American Idol. Throughout the show’s prolific history we have seen countless talented young men and women showcase their voices in an attempt to be the big winner. If you are a fan of the show, then you know that each season is filled with that one breakout performer who captures everyone’s attention with his or her unique style. For the 2016 auditions, Mackenzie Bourg might just be that contestant.
Making his way to the auditions from Lafayette, Louisiana, the young performer was quick to mention that he and judge Harry Connick, Jr., shared the same birthday and hometown. Although that was a great way to enter, I think his voice and mashup of the judges songs really did the trick.
The talented young man started with Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy,” before going into Harry’s “Come By Me,” and then a poetic version of Jennifer Lopez’s “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” before closing with Urban’s “Making Memories Of Us.”
His rearrangement of the songs was fluid, and his harmonic voice got him a ticket to LA. If this voice sounds familiar, it is because he was a contestant of the Voice a couple of years ago.
I think he is destined for big things, what do you think?
