One Little Feature on This Pen Has Saved The Lives Of Hundreds Of Children

All of us have used- or at the very least, seen- a BIC pen. However, what most of us didn’t know was that BIC changed the style of the caps of these popular pens in 1991. The change is almost impossible to notice.

The caps now have a very small hole at the end of the tip. This change has prevented over 100 children from choking to death on the cap.

How is this possible?

We all know how much children love to put small (and dangerous) items in their mouths. Even adults are known to carelessly chew the cap of a pen without thinking. In the event that the cap is swallowed and stuck in the throat, the small hole in the cap allows air to pass through. This keeps the victim safe and breathing!

After seeing what a difference the cap has made, many other companies have altered their designs as well.

What seems like a such a small, unnoticeable upgrade is actually a major life-saver!

How awesome is that?
