When you think of marshmallows what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Most people (myself included) instantly think of s’mores. And for good reason, those suckers are delicious.

But there’s a new marshmallow treat in town that’s going to give roasted marshmallows a run for their money. YouTuber Yoyomax12 shows us how to take plain, boring marshmallows and turn them into a treat EVERYONE will love. That’s right, I’m talking about RAINBOW marshmallows!

These rainbow marshmallow treats are so easy to make, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t think of it first. For this simple recipe all you’re going to need are:

• Marshmallows
• Jell-O powder in the flavors of your choice
• Plastic bags
• Water

Step One:

Put a Jell-O powder flavor of your choice in a plastic bag. One box of Jell-O powder usually makes 24 marshmallows. So if you want to do a variety of flavors and colors, only use a portion of each Jell-O powder.

 

 

Step Two:

Fill a small bowl with water. Take a marshmallow and dunk it into the bowl of water. Roll it around and make sure that the entire marshmallow is wet.

 

 

 

Step Three:

Get rid of any excess water then place the marshmallow into the plastic bag with the Jell-O powder. Shake the bag until the marshmallow is completely covered in powder!

 

Step Four:

Take the marshmallow out of the bag and set it aside to dry. You can place it on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper, or on a silicone baking mat!

 

Step Five:

Repeat this process for as many marshmallows in as many different flavors as you’d like! One recommendation Yoyomax12 makes is to change out the water with each different flavor. As you’re making each marshmallow, Jell-O powder will get on your hands, which will then get in the water causing it to change colors. If any Jell-O powder gets on your hands you might need to do some scrubbing to get it off!

 

Step Six:

Let your marshmallows sit out and dry for about two hours. Once they’re done drying, the powder will have formed a little flavorful crust around each ‘mallow, giving it a very Peeps-like taste and texture! As Yoyomax12 says, these are like ‘fruit flavored marshmallow Peeps’!

These rainbow marshmallows are so simple to make and can be enjoyed anytime anywhere!
