Cassandra Naud was your typical little girl. She loved to dance in front of the mirror and dreamed of one day performing on stage in front of an enormous crowd. But she didn’t look like your typical little girl.

Laced across her face, just under her left eye, was  a birthmark covered in hair. Her unique condition is called hypertrichosis, allowing hair to grow excessively on certain areas of the body.

Attending school became difficult for this big dreamer. Shading her beaming hazel eyes was an unordinary mask others only saw.

She begged for it to be removed, but her parents refused, in fear that it would leave her scars and reminders of her shame.

She expressed her social struggles through dance and throughout the many years of uncomfortable stares and comments from strangers, Cassandra learned to accept her condition as part of her image.

“My birthmark is a huge part of me. It makes me unique and memorable, which is especially important for the career I’ve chosen.”

Now, this Alberta, Canada-based dancer is best known for her raw talent on stage.

But before you get lost in awe from her phenomenal movement, she has a message for anyone who has been bullied for their appearance.

“Times are changing, so don’t worry about looking normal. Don’t let bullies stop you and be proud of your uniqueness!”
