A couple from Hope For Paws received a call about a dog in South Los Angeles who was visibly in very bad shape. When the two got to the property where the dog was spotted, it was no where in site. They searched high and low…and then they saw her. Amidst the garbage and junk piled in a dirty corner, a small dog lay tucked away.

It became immediately apparent that the dog was blind in both eyes. In a state of panic, the dog sat frozen in fear, so the rescuers were able to easily pick her up and take her to safety.

To get the poor dog cleaned up, they shaved away her fur, revealing the worst flea infestation they had ever seen. A few days later they took her to visit a doctor who confirmed that the precious animal was indeed fully blind. However, he reassured them that he could restore her vision in one eye!

The next day, the couple picked her up from the veterinarian’s office and for the first time in a long time, Fiona (as she would come to be named) could see!
