Thea is only 12 years old and today is her wedding day. Yes, 12-year-old Thea is walking down the aisle to meet her groom, Geir. As if this scenario couldn’t get more strange, Geir is a 37-year-old man.   

We watch as Thea is doused in makeup, hair curled into voluptuous waves, and fitted snugly into a long white wedding gown – something that a 12 year old should only ever be dreaming about, not actually experiencing. 

She begins her trek down the long church aisle to meet her soon-to-be groom, as the crowd eagerly snaps pictures. 

But then something incredible happens. The priest asks if Thea will take Geir to be her lawfully wedded husband and without hesitation, she shakes her head no. The crowd erupts into applause and boasts their approval for her brave decision.
