Recently in Atlanta, there was a huge teaching scandal. Eleven teachers were convicted of manipulating test scores at struggling schools to keep them funded. It went against the basic idea of being a teacher and were rewarding schools that didn’t care about the education of their children at all.
Judge Jerry Baxter was leaning towards leniency, allowing the teachers to avoid a maximum 20-year sentence for their crimes. However, the educators were reluctant to provide a guilty plea. That’s when judge Baxter lost it.
“This was not a victimless crime,” said Baxter. “Thousands of children were cheated out of an education by those in the courtroom.”
Judge Baxter doesn’t pull any punches and sentenced all the educators to prison. Good for him!
