Chris Banford, an officer in the Army National Guard, called in to speak with Ellen while his loving wife, Mary, sat happily in the live audience. Mary, who’s a huge fan of “The Ellen Show,” couldn’t believe her ears when she heard her husband’s voice over the phone.

But, in true Ellen fashion, the surprise doesn’t end there! Chris missed their 10-year wedding anniversary because of his most recent training. Ellen hangs up with Chris and calls Mary up on stage.

Mary’s conversation with the charismatic host revolves around her unconditional love for her two boys, Moses and Matt, and how much she wishes Chris was home with their family.
