Seven-year-old Mason Brumley has a pet that most kids his age wouldn’t even dream of. The Springville, Calif., native has spent the past three years caring for and becoming friends with…a CHICKEN!

When his family first got the chick, she was fighting with their other chickens and even pecking at their family. They thought they would have to give up on her, but Mason turned everything around.

He loved that chicken and cared for her in a way that no one else in the family did. The two are now best friends, and she is fondly referred to as “Love Bird.” As soon as Mason gets off the school bus she is right there waiting for him and for her hug.

When Mason got a hair cut he was worried that his Love Bird wouldn’t recognize him, and she was apprehensive of him at first. After giving him a second look, she walked right into his arms. Talk About adorable! These two are going to be best friends FOREVER!
