There is nothing better on a hot summer night than enjoying a cool, juicy piece of watermelon.
That sweet sticky fruit is something that always seems to attract bugs and the only thing that can ruin a good watermelon is being bitten by mosquitos while you try to eat it!
Instead of swatting at bugs this summer, keep the bugs at bay with DIY citronella candles!
These watermelon citronella candles are the perfect way to keep mosquitos away this summer. Lightly scented with citronella they will fit right in with your outdoor decor and everyone will want to know how you made them!
You only need a few ingredients to make them and they look amazing!
You will need:
– Candle wicks
– Paper cups
– Candle wax
– Citronella fragrance oil
– Color pigments/crayons
Using glue, secure your wick to the bottom of the inside of your paper cup. Divide your wax into three separate bowls. One for red, one for green and one for white. Add your color pigment or crayon to the wax and heat until melted. Pour your payer of green first and allow it to cool for a few hours before continuing. After the green layer has cooled pour the white layer and let cool. Finally, pour your red layer and let the entire candle set. To remove your candle from the paper cup, simply peel it away. If you want the outside of your candle to resemble a watermelon even more you can use craft paint to draw on small seeds.
Now all you have to do is light your candle and enjoy an insect free summer! Enjoy and don’t forget to SHARE the love and pass it on!
