With the summer officially upon us we’re reminded more and more every day to be careful in the heat. Stay hydrated, don’t stay in the sun too long, and, most importantly, do not under any circumstance leave your children or pets in the car.
Temperatures can sky rocket quickly inside a car, leading to heat stroke and even death. But one mother in New Sewickley Township, Pa didn’t think about that when she left her two kids in a hot car while she went to a bar.
Police officials got an anonymous tip on Sunday night at 9 p.m. that there were two kids in a hot car. Police arrived and found a 5-month-old strapped into a car seat and his 5-year-old brother next to him.
One officer said the baby was “sweating profusely” and “his hair was stuck to his forehead”, as reported by b985 Radio.
The mother, Cielo Torrez, stopped at Rumors Bar and Grill for a drink and left her two sons in the car with the windows rolled up. When police found her she admitted to drinking two beers and a shot, and also said she didn’t think the situation was bad.
Cielo Torrez is now being charged with child endangerment and public drunkenness, according to b985 Radio.
What do you think of this outrageous story? Luckily someone saw the two boys and notified the police … otherwise this story would have a much sadder ending.
