If You Were Alive in The 1960s You NEED To See This Forgotten Dance Craze!

From the summer of love and the hippie movement, to housewives and beehives – the 1960s made quite the impact on pop culture. There was so much going on during that memorable decade that styles were constantly evolving, anything from hairstyles to styles of dance.

So when we stumbled upon this clip taken from The Judy Garland Show in 1964 we just had to share! Does anyone remember this crazy style of dance called The Nitty Gritty?! There were SO many different dance crazes during this time such as The Twist, The Mashed Potato, The Monkey and The Pony.

But it seems like The Nitty Gritty has become forgotten in time. I’m not really sure how best to describe this hilarious style of dance, but you can tell that everyone dancing on stage is having a GREAT time! Especially the guy rockin’ out front and center – he is on fire!

Of course, that electrifying dancer is the great Bobby Banas who actually invented The Nitty Gritty. His passion, talent and fire are so apparent that you can feel his energy through the screen! I personally love these classic styles of dances and really like how there was always a song that accompanied a particular dance craze.

Do YOU remember The Nitty Gritty?! Please watch and SHARE with your friends and see if anyone else remembers too!
