When Mike Houlston and Jess Evans learned they were about to be blessed with twins, they excitedly started preparing for their new life. However, things took a tragic turn when they went to their 12-week doctor visit.

They discovered that one of the babies had anencephaly, a rare condition that prevents the brain and skull from developing normally. This meant that little Teddy would not liver more than a few hours. The couple were offered the option of abortion, but they both agreed that even just a few short minutes with their child would be better than none.

During the pregnancy, the couple determined that they would donate the baby’s organs, something that had never been done before. After Teddy was born, the air was filled with bitter-sweet emotions. Grateful they were able to meet their baby boy, mom and dad said goodbye to their son with heavy hearts.

While it was devastating to see their child pass, Teddy’s parents knew that their son’s death would result in someone else’s life, as doctors were able to successfully harvest Teddy’s kidneys.

Even though Teddy’s life was short, his impact on the world will be known for years.
