A Baby Elephant Was Sold to Give Tourist Rides. Watch The Moment She’s Reunited With Her Mom

Elephants are some of the most beautiful and majestic creatures in the world. These gentle giants have been respected and admired by people for centuries. Unfortunately, our desire as humans to interact with elephants has caused them to be taken from their homes and families.

This young elephant in particular, Mebai, was taken from her mother, Mae Yui, in 2011. Mebai was sold into the Thai tourism trade and was forced to walk around Thailand giving rides to tourists. After her body started to break down from the wear and tear of her job, she was too weak to carry tourists.

So, Mebai was freed and Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand took her in as part of their Pamper a Pachyderm program. Once they took her in and gave her a little TLC, they set out on the journey to find her mother. After tracking down and finding Mae Yui they set out on the three-day trek with Mebai to the village where her mother lived.

After the three-day long journey through Thailand on foot, the two were finally reunited. Their beautiful reunion was all caught on camera and it’s one of the sweetest, most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.

See what happens when Mebai and her mother Mae Yui see each other for the first time in years. Then be sure to SHARE this precious moment with your friends!
