When firefighters and police officers arrived on scene to this car accident in Spanish Fork, Utah, they had no idea what to expect.
These first responders found a car upside down in the frigid water of the Spanish Fork River, but it was what they found inside that made them act quicker than any other call they had been on.
Inside the submerged car, they found an 18-month-old baby girl strapped in her car seat. They suspected she survived the crash into the river and had been in the freezing water for up to 14 hours. Her mother was driving home late at night and lost control of her car.
The first responders on scene worked together to get her in the ambulance and to the nearest hospital as quickly as possible. Lily Groesbeck is now recovering, but unfortunately her 25-year-old mother, Lynn, did not survive.
