These 3 Southern Recipes Will Take BBQ Sauce To The NEXT Level! YUM!

Barbecue sauce. The quintessential ingredient to complete any Southern-inspired meal. From it’s thick and decadent texture to it’s wonderfully sweet and smokey flavor, barbecue sauce can do no wrong.

While some may argue that they hold the best BBQ sauce recipe out there. With so many variations constantly hitting my plate, I like to keep my options open.

But no matter how you prefer your barbecue, below are 3 adaptations of the classic sauce that will NOT disappoint!

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
1 teaspoon celery seeds
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (32-oz) bottle ketchup
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup apple juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

PREPARATION:
Sauté onion, minced garlic, and jalapeno pepper in hot olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat 4-5 minutes or until tender.
Stir in all other ingredients.
Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
Reduce to low; simmer, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes.
Use immediately, or refrigerate in an airtight container up to 1 month.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
3 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce

PREPARATION:
Stir together all ingredients in a small bowl.
Serve immediately or chilled.
Refrigerate up to 3 days.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup cider vinegar
2/3 cup prepared mustard
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce

PREPARATION:
Stir together first 8 ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat, and stir in butter and soy sauce.
Serve immediately.
