Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Steve Irwin, has been tearing it up on this season of “Dancing With The Stars.” She and her partner, Derek Hough astounded judges with their stirring “Crocodile Rock” performance in the first week of the competition. Sentimental points from the judges aside (remember, her father was known as The Crocodile Hunter) , Irwin has proven time and again that she not only belongs, she’s a real threat to win this season.
She and Hough really ratcheted up the stakes this week, performing the incredibly difficult final dance from Dirty Dancing set to “The Time of My Life”. Not only is it one of the most iconic movie scenes of all time, it also includes one of the most difficult dance routines in movie history. Remember how long it took Baby to get it right? Even Penny — the professional dancer — admitted it was a tough thing to land.
Still, you have probably seen a friend or two attempt the iconic lift to no avail (or maybe even a hospital bill). It’s iconic — and we all want to be a part of it. And though the majority of us will never land the dance move or mutter the words “nobody puts Baby in the corner,” Bindi and Derek were able to conquer the former.
It looks like it’s Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze reincarnate. The recreation of the scene is almost spot on. The talent show set with the wicker background and dance hall motif sets the stage for an incredible feat of dance. We have been rooting for Bindi from the start and it’s so awesome to see her continue to kill on on this season of DWTS!
