“This is not the future we envisioned,” reps of America’s favorite country couple told Associated Press early Monday morning.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are ending their 4-year marriage followed by a long pursuit of cheating rumors in the past year. According to TMZ, Shelton filed for divorce in Oklahoma, home to the place where he proposed to Lambert 4 years prior.

This may come to a shock for most country fans since the two were last seen together, performing at the Greenbrier Classic concert series in West Virginia.

The couple started dating back in 2006 and married 5 years later, in 2011. “Looking back on that, I was falling in love with her right there onstage,” Blake Shelton stated when he first met Lambert at the Behind the Music duet concert on VH1.

According to Fox 411, Lambert previously said that while their careers make it difficult to spend time together, their marriage is more important than career highs. “Like I always say, my mom said to my dad, ‘Divorce is not an option.’ So, we really love each other and have a real marriage outside of all of this.” She added, “When this is all said and done we will be drinking a beer together on a front porch somewhere, reminiscing about the good old days, and that’s what I’m happy about.”

When asked about their marriage last year, Lambert told USAToday, “I’m happy. You’ll have to ask Blake how he feels.”

There’s no telling what encouraged the divorce and the couple is asking for privacy in regards to the personal matter.
