Born with an extremely uncommon disease this boy has struggled his entire life, facing surgery after surgery and dealing with adolescent cruelty. 

Austin is 14-years-old and has Goldenhar Syndrome, a rare genetic condition which causes defects in the face. Throughout his short 14 years of life, this incredibly brave boy has endured 52 surgeries, fighting through each one with positivity and perseverance. 

When Austin discovered that he would soon be undergoing surgery number 53 to repair the pallet in his mouth, he set out to find a way to help his mom pay for the medical expenses. After a friend suggested he make a video, Austin nervously went ahead and created the heartfelt piece you see below.

With the hopes of raising a mere $4,000 to cover the cost of the one surgery, Austin never could have anticipated what was about to come. Austin’s video quickly went viral and the donations starting pouring in. According to their fundraising page, they have now raised over $285,000!
