James makes his way into Glenelg High School, following his fellow classmates as they usher him into the gym.

James, who has Down syndrome, enthusiastically follows along, making his way into the packed gymnasium. Here he is greeted by a large group of his bustling peers, all lining the boundaries of the basketball court.

Unsure of the occasion, James looks around a bit confused. But then, the group of students all begin chanting for James to which he counters with some serious dance moves. Assuming he’s just been summoned to show off his skills, James continues to shake it in the middle of the floor. 

But then, the true meeting of the gathering makes itself known. One of James’ classmates and dear friend, Maisy, makes her way to the center of the room with a sign in hand.

When James looks up, he’s met with the words, “James PROM?” The crowd immediately explodes into a roar of cheers. James happily says yes, in one of the sweetest exchanges I’ve ever seen!
