To cope with the passing of his father, Josh posted pictures of him onto his locker door. Students at his school found this moment of vulnerability for Josh as an opportunity to bully and tore down his pictures when he wasn’t looking. Needless to say, Josh kept to himself, sitting alone in the cafeteria during lunchtime, trying to find his way “to the good things in life.” So, Mom did what any mom would do and decided to transfer him schools. It was a gamble, but together, they no longer wanted him to feel unwanted. Josh wanted to be treated like a normal kid, so he decided to approach this new chapter in his life with a simple act of kindness.
There Josh stood, holding open the door with a smile on his face saying, “Good Morning,” every single morning at his new school. At first the students said it was weird, but with in no time, they began to warm up to the new student, even looking forward to seeing him every morning. Not only did students begin to know his name, it encouraged them to do nice things too. “He changed things in the school,” his mother said. “He was a changed Josh.”
This life transformation eventually led Josh to Prom King! He wasn’t expecting to win, nor was he asking for any prize. “I was just happy enough to make it through.” The story doesn’t stop there. Watch how Josh continues to change lives, sharing his story of bullying to students who can relate. It’s the most inspiring thing you’ll see all day!
