It’s been said to be one of the most beautiful love songs of all times. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” was originally written by George Weiss, recorded by Elvis Presley and released in October of 1961. It peaked at number two on the pop chart and became certified platinum.
Since then, it has been covered by numerous artists. Most memorably, UB40, a British reggae group whose version topped the charts in 1993.
In this video, watch as up-and-coming YouTube sensation, Tom Bleasby, takes Elvis’ hit ballad and knocks it out of the park.
Commenters describe him as having a “truly amazing voice” and “incredible talent”. However, some think he overdoes it a bit. There is quite a bit of vocal echo making it seem that his voice was somehow altered. The amount of vibrato, a rapid, slight variation in pitch in singing, is over the top according to some, detracting from the song’s beautiful melody. One fan even requested he try Whitney Houston next!
Regardless of what the commenters think, it seems with some practice and perseverance, a career in show biz is most definitely in young Thomas’ future.
Tom has several other YouTube videos posted, including a cover of Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” which has over 77,000 views. (You need to see it!)
