This is one very clever commercial. You know those optical illusions that make you do a double take? If you look at it one way you see a certain thing, but if you look at it another way you see something completely different. Well, this commercial from Škoda Auto UK is a lot like that.
This commercial posed the question: is their new car, the Škoda Fabia, so amazing that it demands the attention of everyone who sees it? To get to the bottom of this very pressing question they put their car to the test. They placed a Škoda Fabia on what appears to be a regular ole street in London.
They watched and waited to see the publics’ reaction. While passersby weren’t particularly awestruck, the commercial proves that this little car does steal a decent amount of attention. The narrator in the commercial starts talking about the car in detail. Describing the body, wheels, style, color, etc. While he is talking the viewer begins to focus solely on the car.
As you’re watching you notice the screen flash every couple of seconds, but other than that you don’t notice much. You’re so focused on the car and what the narrator is saying that you don’t notice that a whole lot is changing on that ordinary street in London.
