Her Cat Would Not Stop Annoying Her, And It Ended Up Saving Her Life

Her Cat Would Not Stop Annoying Her, And It Ended Up Saving Her Life

Sue McKenzie and her cat have been together for over 20 years. Over those 20 years, Sue and Tom have never had a super close bond, which is what very well may have saved her life. Tom had never been a needy cat, but when he started acting odd, Sue knew something was wrong. She just didn’t know something was wrong with herself.

According to the Huffington Post, Tom began pawing at Sue’s neck over the course of a few weeks. It was odd behavior from a normally introverted pet:

“Tom has never been a very loving cat, he doesn’t come to me for cuddles very often,” Sue says. “So I thought he was behaving very strangely when he suddenly starting coming to sit next to me, very straight, and tapping his paw on the back of my neck while meowing incredibly loudly.”

After a trip to the vet, Tom was cleared medically. The vet told Sue that Tom might be trying to tell her something. Taking the vets advice, she felt her neck herself, immediately feeling a lump. That lump turned out to be Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Thanks to Tom’s nagging, Sue is now cancer free after six rounds of chemotherapy and a surgery to remove the lump.
