No brunch is complete without mimosas, bacon and a plate of warm frosted cinnamon rolls. If you agree with me, then you are in for a BIG cinnamon surprise!
Instead of your usual plate of cinnamon rolls, try making just one HUGE cinnamon roll! Sally over at Sally’s Baking Addiction had an idea one day for this sweet giant and got to work creating this memorable breakfast beauty.
All you need for the cake part of your cinnamon roll is:
2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
1 package of yeast
1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of milk
3 tablespoons of butter
1 large egg
Heat your water, milk and butter until the butter has melted. Add this mixture into a bowl with your flour, sugar, salt, yeast and egg. You know your dough is done when it no longer sticks to the side of your bowl.
Knead your dough for a few minutes on a floured surface before rolling into a ball, placing in a bowl and letting your dough rise for 30 minutes.
While your dough is rising you can make your filling using:
3 tablespoons of butter
1 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon
1/4 of granulated sugar
In a 15×12 inch pan, spread your dough into a rectangle and cover with the softened butter. Add your cinnamon and sugar on top.
Cut your cinnamon roll dough into six 2-inch strips and roll one loosely for the center of your pan. Continue to roll each strip around the center until you’re left with your big cinnamon roll. It will need to rise for 60-90 minutes in a warm place but when it’s done you can put it in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes.
Once your cake has cooled, top it with your favorite frosting or glaze and serve! Your family will never ask for anything else for breakfast again!
SHARE the love and pass it on!
