Local Cop Joins In On A Neighborhood Basketball Game

With such rapid advancements in technology, rarely do we see kids play outside the way they use to. From iPads to computers to game consoles, children are not motivated to go out and play. So when we do see kids playing outside on the street, it should be applauded. Instead, one neighbor called the police.

In Gainesville, Florida, police officers were called to a location where some kids were playing basketball out on the street. The complaint insinuated that the young men were “loud.” Officer Bobby White responded to the call and approached one of the young men. The officer was confused by the call because he could be heard saying, “You believe someone called to complain about kids playing basketball in the streets? You believe that? I ain’t got no problem with it, obviously.”

After talking for a short time with the boys, the officer did something that no one expected. He joined the young men in a game showing off his skills, and it was all captured on his car’s dash cam.

The footage ends with a message from the police department, “So if you call GPD to complain about kids being kids, this is how Officer White is going to handle it. We’re going to let kids be kids. We are going to focus on the ones that commit crimes. #HoopsNotCrime”
