This Video Shows The Shocking Truth About Costco Eggs

Warning: The video that you’re about to see contains graphic images of animal abuse and may be difficult for some viewers to watch.

Costco has claimed for the last eight years that the chickens used to supply their eggs are cage free. The packaging of a brand of eggs they carry shows happy chickens out in a field in front of a barn, roaming free. Sadly, that image is not the reality of the chickens that supply Costco eggs. If you are a Costco shopper you might want to stay tuned and see what this video is all about.

Recently, the Humane Society of the United States conducted an undercover investigation about the treatment of the chickens at Costco’s egg suppliers. What was found was truly shocking. The chickens were not allowed the freedom that Costco claims they have been. In fact, these chickens are kept in some of the worst conditions an animal can live in.

Chickens are packed into cages with wire bottoms. There are so many birds packed in each cage that they are not able to move around or spread their wings. Because of their close quarters many of the chickens are unable to reach what food and water is being provided to them.

Because of this, many birds die in these cages and are left there until someone comes to clean out the cages. The video shows that many of these dead birds can become mummified lumps at the bottoms of the cages, with other live chickens living and laying eggs on top of these corpses.

The Center for Food Safety has said repeatedly that keeping hens in cages greatly increases the risk of Salmonella. And the conditions the chickens in this video are living in, looks like the perfect breeding ground for Salmonella.

Watch the shocking footage below and see for yourself how these chickens are being treated. This video is hard to watch, so consider yourself warned.

What do you think of this? Should Costco stop selling this brand of eggs – will you continue to shop at Costco?
