If you are accustomed pulling out those old Christmas ornaments from the garage year after year, you may want to do something different this time around. Give your Christmas tree a heartfelt touch of homemade joy with these fun and easy ornament ideas! Dave Hax shows us how to make 5 fantastic decorations that are easy on your wallet and beautiful, too!
For the first ornament, gather as many buttons as you can find. Then thread both ends of a piece of string with two needles, and begin with small buttons. Place one needle through each hole. Repeat with several more buttons before you move on to the bigger buttons. Add a variety of buttons of different sizes next. Slide them all the way down to complete a Christmas tree shape and tie a knot.
Next, get five cocktail sticks and form a star. Using tape, secure each end until your get to the last one, and then some string to hang. You can use just about any fabric to make a really cute bow. As you can see, the fabric he uses makes a very rustic ornament. If you want to make a snowman, get two polystyrene balls of different sizes, attach them using a cocktail stick and wrap a piece of ribbon to emulate a scarf. Using a pipe cleaner, make a hat and attach a piece of string for hanging. To complete the snowman, use a marker to add details.
For the last ornament, you might need a little artistic flare. Get a glitter glue stick for a glue gun and draw a snowflake onto a piece of greaseproof paper. Attach a piece of string to the top and allow it to dry. After it has dried, remove, clean the edges and hang.
These ornaments are sure to fill your home with holiday cheer!
