Dad Interrupts Father-Daughter Dance For A Sporty Surprise

Parents who know their children know exactly what they like and what they dislike. When it was time for one father to have that special daddy daughter dance at her wedding, he knew she would want something a little different. Instead of the usual, he interrupted the dance and broke out the baseball gloves.

Starting off the dance to Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World,” dad surprised his baby girl with a heartwarming game of catch, because he felt it better reflected their relationship. Jim Mickunas pulled away from his daughter Kandice somewhat confusing the newlywed. But her confusion quickly turned to elation when two baseball gloves were brought onto the dance floor. The song changed to John Fogerty’s Centerfield, and her dad invited her to have a quick throw and catch with him.

The proud dad explained his intentions when he shared the emotional clip on his YouTube channel writing, “My daughter has always found her own path. She played flag football at [six]. She hated wearing dresses. She wore a tuxedo to her first communion. She lettered in Soccer and Track,” he boasted. “She then became an engineer for the largest automaker in the world when she was 22.”

He added, “I could not imagine having a traditional father-daughter dance with her. That is not what we were or are… So I came up with this.” Jim noted that his daughter “had no idea” and was completely surprised by his heartfelt idea. And if the moment wasn’t touching enough, Jim eventually offered his glove to Kandice’s new husband, giving him a big hug during the exchange. He then walked off the dance floor, leaving the couple to pass the ball between them.

Priceless!
