Hats off to Debi from Debi’s Design Diary, as she has come up with a do-it-yourself project that might be my favorite one yet. Maybe it’s because it involves items from the thrift store, or maybe it’s due to the fact that it revolves around a Marilyn Monroe poster – either way, this craft is so stinkin’ cute, I’m so excited to give it a whirl.
With a $7 poster purchased from Michael’s and a discarded dresser found in a local thrift store, Debi brings us a DIY that’s not only adorable, but unbelievably cheap to recreate.
She begins by painting the tattered dresser her color of choice – pink! After careful measuring, Debi cuts Marilyn’s silhouette out of the image and traces the figure onto the drawers, ensuring the sliced and diced version would line up properly once adhered. She continues to glue down each piece, one by one, smoothing down the section and pushing out any air bubbles. With a top layer of Mod Podge, the finished product looks good as new!
For a little added flair, Debi adds some additional bling to the dresser, but this part is entirely up to you! Get creative, the options are endless!
If you loved this idea as much as I did, be sure to SHARE the love and pass it on!
