You may want to think about cleaning out your old makeup bag because deadly diseases may very well be lurking in the most innocent of your belongings.
Scientists at London Metropolitan University tested five different products including foundation, blush and lip gloss, finding that out-of-date cosmetics contain potentially deadly bacteria strains. One bug particularly, enterococcus faecalis, can even cause meningitis. Other bugs found were bacteria that can cause urinary tract, respiratory and staph infections.
All five products tested contained abnormally high levels of deadly bacteria.
The study found that the most at-risk people are pregnant women and new mothers due to the lethal meningitis-causing bacterias found in the expired makeups.
The blush was found to have the most amount of bacteria, followed by mascara, lip gloss, foundation and lipstick.
Nikki Capp had no idea her lip gloss could be harmful to a child.

The germs are most likely spread by direct application to the lips. Kissing small children would be the fastest way these germs would spread to small children and babies.
So take note, ladies! Maybe it’s time to clean out the old makeup bag and make sure all of your cosmetics are up to date.
