No longer will a wood deck with a barbecue grill do for many homeowners wanting to enjoy their backyards. These days, accessorizing the home means amenities like ponds, vegetable gardens, outdoor kitchens, and, increasingly, fire pits that crackle and glow.
One reason for fire pits’ appeal? It can extend a backyard use throughout the fall and winter seasons. If you are one of those homeowners who want to enjoy this luxury, you can for less than $150!
This guy got 3-1/2″ x 11-1/2″ x 7″ Crestone Beveled Retaining Wall Block, 34 pieces total and used a hammer to knock off the lips. He then flattened an area and aligned each block around the fire ring.

He then took out the fire ring and added a second layer of blocks. After which he put the fire ring back in to make sure the fit was still perfect. He removed the fire ring again and used caulk adhesive to apply permanently the second row of blocks.

He added a third and final row and then stuck them with caulk. The fire ring nicely dropped in and rested on top of the top layer. Then he filled the inside of the pit with 2 bags of Pea Pebbles and used 5 bags for the outside of the fire pit.
