For winter sports enthusiasts, hand warmers can mean the difference between finishing for the day or determining whether the outdoors can be tolerated any further. But everyone can benefit. Those who care to brave the cold temperatures might be tempted to try those little pouches that emit warmth within seconds of being exposed to air.
You can spend some dough on buying the disposable or you can do-it-yourself less.
Sarah from Sadie Seasongoods shows us the process step by step. She cuts out all of the pockets from the shirt, and then she proceeded to cut out dozens of small squares (4” and 5”) in sets of four (two squares per hand warmer, two hand warmers to make a pair).

Next, she pinned two squares together and sewed all around three sides, starting and ending approximately 1” in on the 4th side, leaving an opening in the center. After removing the pins, she turned the whole thing right-side out. She then used the craft funnels to fill each with plain white rice, about ¾ of the way.

In the microwave, you can heat a pair up for 25-30 seconds, and they will be nice and toasty! These bad boys stay warm long enough to take the chill off of cold hands!
