As cliché as it sounds, flowers are still one of the best ways to brighten up a room or somebody’s day. Equally important to the lovely roses or tulips is the vase. They usually come in all shapes, sizes, colors and prices. But there is an alternative option; one that is both beautiful and cost-effective. YouTube user DaveHax shows us how to make a decorative vase using plastic bottles. Yes, you read right, plastic drink bottles!
In his tutorial, he begins with a clear, empty soda bottle. He uses a box cutter to cut into the bottle and then cuts off the top with scissors. He suggests making the cut as straight as possible.
For the next step, he takes his scissors and makes a mark 6 cm from the tip to ensure each cut is even. Next, he lines up the mark on the scissors with the end of the bottle and make cuts evenly spaced around the bottle.
He then presses all of the cut stripes outward. He takes one of the stripes and bends it over the first strip next to it and tucks it under the following stripe. He does that around the entire bottle. Be sure to press down on the end to make a crease.
This type of vase is perfect for any room, windowsill or office desk. Great way to help out the Earth too.
