Turn Your Old Sweaters Into Adorable Slipper Boots With This Fun DIY Project

Angela Markus

I’m already cringing at the fact that the chilly weather is already among us. The only solace I have is that fall and winter are the best seasons for stylist fashions. It is also the time when you can buy all of those great snuggly items to keep you warm. So naturally, when I saw this DIY, I wanted to try it immediately. Jen from Drawings Under The Table has created the most amazing slipper boots ever, that will not only keep you warm, but put good use to those old sweaters you have lying around.

Before you throw away those old, out-of-season sweaters, you can upcycle them to create the most comfortable and fabulous booties. You’ll need scissors, pins, yarn, a large darning needle, and an old sweater. Ensure that the sweater has a tight knit weave so it will not unravel when you are ready to cut.

First, make a rough outline of your foot on a piece of paper or cardstock leaving extra space around the edge for comfy slippers and easy sewing. Cut out the shape for both feet. Next, cut the sole pieces by using each cutout on the body-area of the sweater, to create two sole pieces.

Now ensure the boot length by sticking your foot into the sleeve of the sweater through the opening at the wrist, and pulling the fabric around your leg to a desired boot length. Next, carefully cut the fabric away from the sole of your foot.

Pin the sole pieces to the leg pieces. Now, with the pins in place, blanket stitch the two pieces together using the yarn.
