This DIY Spoon Mirror Costs Almost Nothing And Is Absolutely Gorgeous

Do-it-yourself projects are fun ways to make really exquisite pieces of décor at extremely low costs.

Like this mirror, it looks like it came from the walls of Saks Fifth Avenue! The truth is, you can make this marvelous piece for almost nothing.

You will need about 6 packages of 48 plastic spoons, one 12 inch MDF wreath form and an 18-inch MDF wreath form, glue gun, cardstock, primer, acrylic paint, white latex paint, brush, twine, and a mirror.

First cut the handles off all of the plastic spoons.

Then connect the two forms using spoon handles and your glue gun.

Flip the base over and cover up the space in between to the circles by adding cardstock in a circular fashion.

Now, attach the spoon tops with hot glue from the outside going inside in a layering effect.

The next step involves taking the frame outside and applying several thin coats of primer. When the primer has dried, paint the front and back of the inside row of spoons using acrylic paint.

For the second row, mix the acrylic paint with white latex paint to soften the color and apply. As you paint the outer rings, increase the amount of white latex paint to lighten the color.

When the paint dries, attach a round mirror to the back using your glue gun. Attach a loop of jute twine to the back of the mirror with hot glue to hang the mirror.
